NBA stands for National Basketball Association, formerly known as BAA is mainly a professional basketball league founded on June 6, 1946, in New York City. The league is also known as the best professional basketball league in North America.
NBA started its journey with eleven teams, and now it is composed of thirty teams. First outdoor game of this league took place at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on October 11, 2008, and the first official NBA league took place in 2011.
At the early age of this league, the quality of play wasn’t better than the competing leagues. But today the NBA is one of the four major professional sports leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, and NHL) in USA and Canada.
The regular season of the NBA begins in the last week of October. Each team plays 82 games from October to April.
Philadelphia Warriors was the first winner of the 1946-47 NBA championship. Toronto Raptors won the 2018-19 championship by defeating the six-time champion Golden State Warriors. With a 17-time win, the maximum trophy winner is Boston Celtics.
