What is Slime?

Slime

The fluids which follow Newton’s law of viscosity (have the same behavior as water) are called Newtonian fluids. The fluids which do not follow Newton’s law are called non-Newtonian fluids. Slime is a non-Newtonian fluid. It is pretty fun to play with, and it helps to relieve stress at the same time.

It is a sticky material which is mainly made by mixing borax, glue, and water. Cornstarch can also be used instead of borax. It has been a great tool to play with among the kids through decades. Slimes can be stretched and squeezed to make satisfying sounds which can help you sleep quickly. It is known as Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR).

Before playing with slime, you have to make sure you are not allergic to the ingredients that are used to make the slime. You may use other materials to make slime that does not affect your skin. Slime consists of water which can dry out quickly. To prevent the slime from drying out, you are advised to store it in an airtight container.
